Biography
Martha McKee has practiced law for over 25 years. Although she is a strong advocate in court or in negotiations, she believes that each family has unique needs that must be fostered as the family unit changes. She will help you through all areas of family law, including issues from birth to death, respecting your needs and wishes. Martha welcomes questions as the process you are involved in moves forward, and takes all steps necessary to be transparent, informative and available.
Martha has represented hundreds of clients in a variety of settings, from informal negotiations, to mediation, to family court, DSS court, and special proceedings. She has handled child custody cases for both mothers, fathers, grandparents and third parties-and she strongly believes that custody cases are the most important cases that she handles and strives to ensure good outcomes for all, but mostly the children. She has handled in and out of court cases involving child support, property division/equitable distribution, alimony/spousal support, divorce, divorce from bed and board, attorneys fees, domestic violence, adoptions, termination of parental rights, wills, powers of attorney, health care powers of attorney and living wills, name changes, paternity actions, incompetency proceedings and emancipation cases. Martha believes that settling your case through written Agreements is often the best alternative, but will take the appropriate case to court with you as a team member.
Martha has volunteered in numerous settings over the years, giving her time to family law clinics, mock trial competitions, disability, mortgage foreclosure and citizenship clinics. Martha is a trained Stephen Minister--that training allows her to listen to you in an informed and caring fashion. She is a devoted mother of three wonderful children and several grandchildren.
